What is your business, and what do you make?
Kootenay Rocks is the name of our business. We are located in the West Kootenays. Adrienne makes whimsical pebble art pictures in shadow boxes with natural elements found along the beaches of Kootenay Lake. Bill makes his rustic bird houses from license plates and old pallet wood.

How did you get started in this business?
We started at the Nelson’s Farmer’s Markets.

Is this a full time job for you?
No but very close in April – December.

What is your first memory of making something?
Adrienne’s first memory was making Christmas wreaths with my mom using the glue gun, old ornaments, pine cones and lots of ribbon. Bill’s was making homemade donuts with his 5 sisters and his mom and then selling them at the campground near their home in Northern BC.

What are your favorite and least favorite things about being craft fair vendor?
Meeting all the people and seeing all of the great stuff at the show! Making certain everything fits into the van and secured for the trip always thinking did we make enough??!!

What is the biggest compliment you’ve ever received about your work?
When people purchase a birdhouse or a picture as their souvenir of their trip to; the Kootenays, BC or Canada!

What is one holiday tradition in your family?
Making mulled wine with our homemade wine.

What was the last gift you gave someone?
A basket full of home grown veggies: tomatoes, green peppers, onions, basil, parsley and garlic.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?

Do you believe in Bigfoot?
Yes – why not?

Describe your workspace/studio in three words.
Not enough room.
